Main Content

CTS develops and manufactures high-end radio frequency (RF) filters used by various technologies to block out or filter certain signal frequencies. In 1982, CTS invented the ceramic monoblock, and ever since, our ceramic RF filters have been setting the industry standard in terms of lowest insertion loss, attentuation/rejection/isolation, Q-factor, size, power handling and transition slope. Our portfolio includes band-pass filters, low-pass filters, diplexers and duplexers.

We also created the ClearPlex® RF filter based on our proprietary ceramic waveguide technology which enables higher power handling, nearly twice the Q-factor and excellent passive intermodulation (PIM) performance. Our filter solutions are utilized in countless wireless infrastructure applications such as DAS, small cells, RRH, repeaters, and macro base stations, as well as in specialized mobile user equipment, intelligent vehicles, military communication, and satellite and space applications.

Band-Pass Filters

A band-pass filter (BPF) is a 2-port radio frequency filter component used in a signal path to pass a specific range of frequencies and to suppress (attenuate) the frequencies outside of that. These filters are used far and wide in time division duplexing (TDD) and frequency division duplexing (FDD) systems, and ceramic BPFs from CTS are employed in various technologies such as TDD small cells, distributed antenna systems, active antenna arrays, remote radio heads and other wireless infrastructure systems.

Low-Pass Filters

A low-pass filter (LPF) is a 2-port radio frequency (RF) filter designed to pass a range of frequencies below a specified point while supressing frequencies on the high side of that mark. LPFs are often used in combination with a duplexer or a band-pass filter for high-frequency suppression to meet either requirements for a second band co-located at higher frequencies or government/industry regulations for high frequency emissions. The LPFs from CTS Corporation can be used as stand-alone solutions, in conjuction with other of our products or in combination with other filter technologies.

Diplexers

A diplexer is a 3-port radio frequency filter component which is used in multiband systems to enable the sharing of a common antenna between two distinct frequency transmit and receive bands. For diplexing of widely separated bands, where a true low-pass filter/high-pass filter is required, we have our XCBC family of cross-band combiners. These products have low insertion loss in small size, but with power handling up to 6W average / 60W peak power per band. For diplexing of very closely spaced bands, the DPX family of diplexers are ideal, offering multiplexing of bands which are very difficult to frequency combine. These two product families can also be used together to create 3- or 4-way multiplexers.

Duplexers

A duplexer is a 3-port radio frequency filter component used in frequency division duplexing (FDD) systems. Here, it enables the sharing a common antenna between the transmit and receive paths of a radio communications system. It accomplishes this with low insertion loss while isolating the receive signal path from interference caused by the transmit signal path, suppressing out-of-band signals on both paths at the same time. CTS offers a range of duplexer performance to better than 80dB of rejection and 200W of peak input power handling.
