Speakers
Piezoelectric ceramic elements may be used as speaker drivers where they convert an audio signal from an amplifier into an acoustic wave. The piezoelectric element is typically attached to a speaker cone or other membrane that efficiently transmits the acoustic wave into air.
Piezoelectric speakers may be driven with low power and are compact and non-magnetic. They are ideal for applications require low profile, compact speakers such as computers, tablets, and communication devices in first responder helmets. Piezoelectric speakers may also be incorporated as a driver for high frequencies in a full range audio speaker.
CTS produces piezoelectric elements that can reliably withstand high power levels for extended time. CTS recommends 3203 material with high piezoelectric and electromechanical coupling coefficients for speaker applications.
